Retrofit Strategies
|
- Work with the bottlers to swap to newer machines
- Consider selling off old equipment
- You don't need to retrofit all machines
- Soda machines can be done without DEX
- Snack machines with DEX provide the highest payoff
|
|
|
DEX Kits - retrofitting non-resident DEX Machines
|
- Approximately $150-170 / machine for Item Level
- Slightly less for Cash Audit only
|
|
|
Things to ask your software / hardware providers before getting started |
- How many companies are using DEX today?
- How many are 100% DEX?
- Do they support Cash Meter DEX accountability or true DEX Cash Accountability? What about "deplete-able" change funds?
- Do they support item level DEX? If they do, what do they do with the data?
- Rounding?
- Trigger percentages?
- Pick-lists and Estimated pick-lists (show example).
- Does the handheld support TTL and RS-232 DEX?
- Do they use Cumulative or Interval reads - you can't rely on interval data.
- Ask for a "mentor operator" to help you through the project.
- Do a site visit to see in action for yourself.
- Ask how many different machine / firmware combinations they support - one size DOES NOT fit all!
- Ask about support for cashless payment systems via DEX.
- Do they have a utility and best practice for setting up Plan-O-Grams?
- Do they support Plan-O-Gram templates?

Rollout Considerations
|
- Plan on updating some machine firmware
- Your good drivers will love the system, your bad drivers will leave. The system will make them faster, and they will take ownership in keeping the numbers accurate.
- Use a utility like DEXSpy to test all machines
- You can get accountability to the Nickel, and count bills and coins exactly
- Information available immediately
- Show DEX Wizard in vend_visits
